About Shannon
Shannon Lundgren is a dedicated public servant and business owner, currently serving as a State Representative in Iowa. Born on April 4, 1972, in Dubuque, Iowa, Shannon’s early life was shaped by her close-knit family and the values instilled in her during her upbringing. She graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in Dubuque and pursued her passion for travel and hospitality, graduating from Midwest Travel Institute in 1991, where she became a certified travel agent.
Shannon’s professional journey began in the travel and hospitality sector, where she demonstrated her leadership skills in various positions in sales and service with The Dubuque Casino Belle, The Dubuque Diamond Jo Casino and Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort. She became the General Manager of the Dubuque County Fairgrounds in 2001, a 96-acre event facility which hosts over 350 events each year including the annual six day Dubuque County Fair. In 2006, she co-founded Trackside Bar & Grill in Peosta, Iowa, with her husband, Charlie, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit. In 2018 she established Lone Palm Travel Co., reflecting her commitment to supporting local businesses and the community.
As a State Representative, Shannon is passionate about advocating for her constituents and addressing the challenges they face. She is known for her approachable demeanor and dedication to public service, working tirelessly to promote policies that benefit families and local businesses in Iowa. She currently chairs the House Commerce Committee, the first woman to hold this chair position and focuses on state commerce issues, including energy independence, consumer protections, regulation reform and plays a significant role in reducing state regulations. Outside of her political career, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family and engaging with the community, embodying her belief in the importance of strong community ties.
